DALLAS REMAIN UNDEFEATED (6-0), DOWNS TIGERS IN THE RAIN

 

DALLAS - The Dallas Magpies Australian Football Club advance there undefeated record for season 2005 by defeating the Baton Rouge Tigers this past weekend.  In what was a tough fought game the visiting side proved to be too strong and ran out comfortable winners by 6 goals.

 

The final score: Dallas 10.7.67 to Baton Rouge 5.3.33. 

 

The Magpies went into battle knowing that the Tigers would throw everything at them and it would be tough to continue the winning streak of 5 games.

 

     

 

 

Moments before the opening bounce, the clouds opened up and a huge downpour lasted almost the entire game.  This provided some relief for all players and even though at times players were blinded by heavy rainfall. 

 

Throughout the game both teams made forward advances, but it was the ‘Pies who started to make their presence known.  The Magpies center line players switched around in order to shut down the Tigers and through some commitment and great man on man defense.

 

Dallas forwards combined to amass 8 of the team's goals

 

While Baton Rouge relied on the skill of their fast players to move the ball forward, Dallas continued to march on, making many forward pushes and kicking some strong goals.  The Dallas back-line, who had worked extremely hard all day was rock solid and held off most of the Baton advances. 

 

When the final siren sounded it was the Dallas side that ran out victors by 30 points.
