MAGPIES TAKE ON MILWAUKEE IN FINAL HOME GAME

Sept 8th 2004 – by Magpie Press

The Dallas Magpies Australian Rules Football Club, still with a chance to take home the MAAFL title in the final round of play, host to Milwaukee on September 11 in the Mid-American Australian Rules Football League.

The game between the league rivals will begin at 2 p.m. at Crowley Park in Richardson.

Dallas and Milwaukee have never met. In MAAFL play this year, Milwaukee is 4-1, while Dallas is 3-2.

Last year, the Magpies and Milwaukee were in different divisions as Dallas was in Division 1 at the USAFL Nationals in Kansas City, while Milwaukee was in Division 2. Milwaukee convincingly took home the Division 2 championship to prove themselves among the top teams.

In previous MAAFL play, Dallas went on the road to play the Atlanta, a team that is known to be strong at home. Dallas almost stole the MAAFL points but was beaten by a goal in the final seconds to lose by only 2 points.

This game has a lot riding on it. If Dallas can win they will move to 4 wins on the season – tied with St. Louis and Milwaukee – and the title will go to the team with the highest percentage. It will be hard fought, but since the MAAFL title is on the line, and with no history in the series, this game could go either way.
